The Animal Chair collection from Maximo Riera at the moment contains three different chairs: Octopus Chair, Rhino Chair and Walrus Chair. But designer is going to complete it with another three: Lion Chair, Beetle Chair and Whale Chair. “Each creation retains the animal’s natural vitality whilst being totally biological accurate in their appearance. This collection is homage to these animals and the whole animal kingdom which inhabits our planet, as an attempt to reflect and capture the beauty of nature in each living thing.” Take a look!

Designed by artist Maximo Riera, the five intricately moulded pieces of furniture range from £35,000 for an octopus creation to £65,000 for a whale.

The pieces are made in high dense polyurethane and contain an internal metallic frame, which allows holding the structure and weight of the composition. They have required the highest technology (CNC) and engineering to develop and manufacture. More than 30 professionals from 5 different companies have been involved in the process.

Every piece is manufactured to order, taking approximately 9 weeks to produce. Each one needs an average of 170 hours of machinery and 160 hours of workman as it is assembled, sanded and painted by hand, which makes them unique.
