Detailed description

To “ride” the waves of the future and give surfers new sensations, Garrett McNamara collaborated with Mercedes-Benz to create 4 boards dedicated to surfing giant waves.

To design these adult toys, the Mercedes-Benz Design Center took care of the design while McNamara took care of the shape and technical information related to weight and materials.

After identifying the perfect load distribution of the surfer on the board, the 4 boards were created in Portugal. They could be tested for the first time from February 2 to 13, 2013 off the Portuguese coast.

Fulfilling the Mercedes-Benz motto “The best or nothing”, the joint project named “MBoard” marks the beginning of a long cooperation between the Mercedes and Garrett McNamara thrill actors for the coming year.

It is already announced that telemetry instruments will be developed that will make it possible for the first time to accurately measure the speed of extreme surfers.
